തൈക്കാപള്ളി കല്ല് / Kovalam Padina Seaweed Colony

കോവളം തൈക്കാപള്ളി കല്ല് കരയിൽ നിന്നും കഷ്ടിച്ച് 200 മീറ്റർ മാത്രം ദൂരെയായുള്ള കടൽ ആവാസയിടമാണ്. കഷ്ടിച്ച് രണ്ട് മൂന്ന് മീറ്റർ ആഴമേയുള്ളൂ ഈ ഇടത്തിന്. ഈ ആവാസയിടം നിറയെ Padina എന്നയിനം sea weed കളാണ്. അത്തരം ആവാസയിടങ്ങളിൽ ജീവിക്കുന്ന ചില ഇനം ഡാംസൽ ഫിഷുകളെയും അവിടെ കാണാം. ചില സീസണുകളിൽ മാത്രം ലോബ്സ്റ്ററുകൾ ഇവിടെ വന്ന് തങ്ങാറുണ്ട്.

Kovalam Thaikkapally rock/rocky reef is a habitat located just short of 200 metres from the shore. The marine habitat lies at a depth of 2-3 m. This habitat/ecosystem predominantly consists of a seaweed species called "Padina". It's also inhabited by the Damselfish, characteristic of such habitats. During certain seasons, lobsters also inhabit this habitat.
